LEGAL CLINICAL TRAINING FACILITIES

The College has established a Law Clinic known as ABUAD Law Clinic. The Clinic performs two main functions: first, it provides practical training for our students through simulated and life cases in their course of study. Secondly, the Clinic provides free legal aid services to poor and indigent members of the community. The Clinic is headed by a Director who is an academic staff of the College. It also has a Clinic administrator who is a person qualified to practise law in Nigeria. In addition to these there are other Clinic Supervisors selected from the members of the academic staff of the College who help to supervise its activities.

 

A REPORT ON THE MOOT COMPETITION

The Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan branch, in celebrating its … anniversary, had as one of its events, a moot trial competition which took place on the 3rd of December 2014. The competition was between University of  Lagos (Appellants), Afe Babalola University (1st Respondents) and the University of Ibadan (2nd Respondents).

After the trial, judgement was given in favour of the Respondents and  the prestigious award for best counsel was given to a counsel for the 1st Respondent, Odunsi Olusola Eunice.

Counsels for the first Respondents were: Odunsi Olusola, Kola-Adefemi Kitan, Adiele Chioma and Onuigwe Gideon. Students on the research team were: Osunyikanmi Keheinde, Pius Imue, Itamunuola Belema and Randle Enitan.

The students were also in the company of three of their lecturers who were of tremendous assistance to the students: Barr. Ifeolu Koni, Olagbegi Oloba (Mrs.) and Barr Henry.

 

INFRASTRUCTURAL AND SUPPORT FACILITIES:

The College is domiciled in a magnificent building within a serene environment, with air-conditioned lecture theatres and classrooms for automated research and interactive teaching and learning, and a wide range of A/V (audio/visual) equipment that ranges from TVs and VCR (Video Cassette Recorders) to Data projectors for PowerPoint presentations, as well as networked computer units for access to scholarly databases. The College also has a state of the art and well-equipped library of both electronic and print national and international resources.

The College, apart from the Provost’s Office, has two departments, namely department of private and business law and department of public and international law.
